Traveling Exhibit: Parks in Focus
The Morris K. Udall Foundation’s Parks in Focus program has been introducing Arizona under-privileged youth to nature through the art of photography since 1999.
Photographs taken by the 2007 program participants are now on
display at the Tucson Children’s Museum through August.
The exhibit features the sites visited during the Arizona, Michigan, and New Jersey trips, as well as trips
to Acadia, Grand Teton, and Redwood National Parks.
The Udall Foundation, an independent federal agency based
in Tucson, hopes to instill in participants a sustainable
appreciation for public lands and natural resources by
introducing them to national parks and giving them the
equipment and instruction to explore and focus on the natural
world through the lens of a camera.

The highlight of Dinosaur Canyon is the robotic
animation of four life-sized dinosaurs: a Tyrannosaurus Rex,
a Kentrosaurus, a Protoceratops and a Deinonychus. Their movements
are orchestrated to a video giving background information about
their respective behaviors and physiology.
Additional exhibit components include a
replica fossil bed with preserved dinosaur eggs and older animal
skeletal remains. The dinosaurs represented were chosen to accurately
represent size while exposing visitors to a wider range of species
than the handful of popular dinosaurs most are familiar with.

Be sure to also see the Utahraptor (non-robotic)
that joined the Dino Canyon family in 2003.
Come take a look at the fossil table under
different magnifications.
