The Mars Experience traveling exhibit for kids has landed at the Tucson Children's Museum. Thanks to the University of Arizona’s Phoenix Mars Mission, the Mars Experience gives kids the chance to feel the excitement of exploring the Red Planet with play and imagination in three interactive areas:

3-2-1-Dress Up!–Kids can imagine themselves as astronauts with this fun dress up area, complete with space suit cutout that will make for memorable photos. Space puzzles and plush toys round out a child’s imaginary flight to Mars.

Explore Mars Kiosks! – Visitors of all ages can test their Martian knowledge at one of the two rocket-shaped touch screen kiosks that feature questions about Mars’ moons, terrain, size, and much more.

Welcome to the Mars 3D Experience!–Children complete their journey in space with a three dimensional experience of the Red Planet’s terrain and the Phoenix Mars Lander.

Traveling Exhibit: Parks in Focus

The Morris K. Udall Foundation’s Parks in Focus program has been introducing Arizona under-privileged youth to nature through the art of photography since 1999. Photographs taken by the 2007 program participants are now on display at the Tucson Children’s Museum through August. The exhibit features the sites visited during the Arizona, Michigan, and New Jersey trips, as well as trips to Acadia, Grand Teton, and Redwood National Parks.

The Udall Foundation, an independent federal agency based in Tucson, hopes to instill in participants a sustainable appreciation for public lands and natural resources by introducing them to national parks and giving them the equipment and instruction to explore and focus on the natural world through the lens of a camera.

Dinosaur World
Guided Group Tour available

The highlight of Dinosaur Canyon is the robotic animation of four life-sized dinosaurs: a Tyrannosaurus Rex, a Kentrosaurus, a Protoceratops and a Deinonychus. Their movements are orchestrated to a video giving background information about their respective behaviors and physiology.

Additional exhibit components include a replica fossil bed with preserved dinosaur eggs and older animal skeletal remains. The dinosaurs represented were chosen to accurately represent size while exposing visitors to a wider range of species than the handful of popular dinosaurs most are familiar with.

Created by Rob Meyer Productions

Be sure to also see the Utahraptor (non-robotic) that joined the Dino Canyon family in 2003.

Come take a look at the fossil table under different magnifications.

Thank you to Southern Arizona Fossils for the table!
